Ohio Deer Hunts - Whitetail Hunts in Adams County, Ohio
Camp Kay Outfitters is proud to offer you semi-guided whitetail hunts in Adams County, Ohio. These hunts are located in South Central Ohio bordering the Ohio River and Kentucky in the Appalachian foothills. We have secured 600 acres of private land with varying terrain comprised of mostly hardwoods. This hunt is for serious trophy bow hunters looking to harvest a minimun 130"-150” class or larger buck. Adams County is a top producing big buck county famous for the “Amish Buck” killed by John Schmucker in 2006, an impressive 36 point buck that would net an amazing 295 7/8”.
Camp Kay Outfitters is offering a limited number of hunts for 2012 on this property. We will offer only trophy bow hunt and muzzleloader hunts with a 6 hunter limit per week. If you have a minimum group of 5 hunters, then you will have the whole property to yourselves for the hunt you book.
Doug and Susan Ruehl will be your hosts and guides for your hunt. You will stay in the beautiful Rock Vacation Hunting Lodge. Doug and Susan will provide you with hot home-cooked meals and make sure you have an enjoyable hunting experience. This lodge is located on the hunting property so you won’t have to drive anywhere on your stay. Most standard home amenities and satellite television are included as well. The hunting is primarily set up for trophy bow hunting and crossbows are allowed. You may use either fixed or mechanical broad heads on this hunt. You may bring and place your own stand (no damage is allowed to the trees), or we can provide you with a stand that is already placed. Upon arrival you will be required to sign a waiver of liability and shoot your bow or muzzleloader to make sure that it is sighted in. If you wound a deer, we will let you continue to hunt only after every effort has been made to track and retrieve it. There are a few food plots to hunt over as well. Doug will assist you in retrieving your deer, and a processing facility is available as well. Over the past several years this property has yielded many 130”- 150” bucks with a success rate of around 40-50%. The largest buck ever taken on the property was 173 2/8”.
All of the deer are free roaming and our hunts are semi-guided. We will set you up in the areas that we feel present the best hunting opportunity for you to harvest a whitetail deer. While some of the best trophy bucks in the country come from Adams County, we also encourage the harvesting of does. A 125" minimum is in effect on this property.
As stated above, all hunts include meals and lodging on the hunting property. The schedule for hunting is listed on the rates and dates page. All bow hunts are 5 1/2 days and the muzzleloader hunt is 4 days. All hunts will include an arrival/ scouting day. A minimum $250 deposit will be due upon booking and your balance will need to be paid 60 days prior to your arrival date unless other arrangements have been made. We are currently booking for 2012 and 2013 so be sure to secure your spot on this limited availability hunt.
